How to Travel

I was super blessed and was able to travel to my first country when I was 15. I went to Thailand, China, and Japan for my first international travel. After visiting these places, I just fell in love with traveling! I now try to travel as much as I can while having a full-time job and limited PTO. In this blog, I will be your own personal FREE travel agent <3 Each place has its pros and cons, and it was amazing to get to experience everything I have so far!

1. Pick your Destination & Dates

The first trip I ever planned by myself was a trip to Japan, so I’ll use this example to follow along. If you’re flexible with your dates, then perfect! (I’m jealous) You don’t need to worry about this section, but I know many like myself have strict schedules.

I work for the State of California, and I am lucky to have holidays off. I try to plan my trips around holidays so I can save myself some PTO. So for my Japan trip, for example, it was May 15-28, 2024 (Memorial Day landed on May 27). I used a total of 72 hours for 14 days. (2 weeks!)

I took a European trip that same year and actually left the day before Thanksgiving! I wanted to save as much PTO as I could, so for that trip, it was November 27 – December 10 (In the state, they give us two days off for Thanksgiving which is the 28 & 29). Sooooo in total I only used 64 hours for 14 days. (Saved 8 hours more than my last trip lol)

If you’re in school, then it will be hard to get the best prices, and these airlines and hotel agencies know this and tend to charge higher prices during spring, summer, and winter breaks. So you’re just out of luck at that point, but if traveling is a priority to you, I say go for it!

Try to be as flexible as possible with your dates. Once you decide on a date, pick a location. I recommend researching best
